What to do when WordPress says your password is incorrect

1 min read

An incorrect-password message is often a simple input issue, but repeated failures can also trigger security lockouts.

Steps #

  1. Confirm you are using the correct username or email address.
  2. Check Caps Lock and keyboard language.
  3. Re-enter the password manually instead of relying on autofill.
  4. Use the WordPress password-reset link if you still cannot sign in.
  5. Check spam for the reset email.
  6. If resets fail or you are locked out, stop and contact FoxDev.

Expected result #

You regain access, or FoxDev can review lockout and reset delivery safely.

If the problem continues #

  • Do not keep guessing passwords.
  • Do not create a new administrator user unless FoxDev asks you to.
