What to include when reporting a website error

1 min read

When WordPress or a public page shows an error, clear details help FoxDev Studio find the cause faster.

Before you begin #

  • Do not refresh endlessly if the page is already showing a stable error message. Capture it first.

Steps #

  1. Copy the exact page URL.
  2. Copy or screenshot the full error message.
  3. Note the date and approximate time.
  4. Note what you were doing just before the error appeared.
  5. Check whether visitors see the same issue or only administrators do.
  6. Confirm whether the WordPress admin area still loads.
  7. Submit one ticket at Submit Ticket with those details.

Expected result #

FoxDev can tell whether the issue is public-facing, admin-only, temporary, or tied to a recent change.

If the problem continues #

  • Do not deactivate plugins or themes yourself if FoxDev manages the website.
  • Do not edit PHP files or the database.

Contact FoxDev Studio #

Submit a support request at Submit Ticket. Email messages do not automatically create Support Center tickets.

Include:

  • The affected website address
  • The exact page address, if relevant
  • What you expected to happen
  • What actually happened
  • The date and approximate time
  • Screenshots or a short screen recording
  • Browser and device
  • Any visible error message
  • Whether wp-admin still loads

Do not include passwords, API keys, payment-card details, or other secrets in ticket fields or email. FoxDev Studio will provide a secure method when access is required.
